Getting to Zambia

From Europe to Lusaka, most major airlines fly into Johannesburg or Nairobi, with connections to Lusaka available from both hubs.  Emirates have daily flights from Dubai to Lusaka and Harare.

Ethiopian Airways has regular flights to Lusaka from Addis Ababa – with connections to many European and Asian destinations.

From the USA and Australia, you must travel through Europe, Johannesburg, or Dubai. Most Southern African capitals have connections with Lusaka airport.

Entering Zambia by road you'll find that most borders are open from 06.00 to 18.00. In the southern region Chirundu, Kariba, Livingstone and Kazungula are the main borders.

Getting to Kanyemba by road

Driving from Lusaka to Kanyemba Lodge takes around 2.5-3 hours, depending on traffic and weather conditions.

Head South from Lusaka on Kafue Road, and travel 146km though Kafue town to Chirundu (you’ll see lots of trucks as you arrive in Chirundu!!!)

Turn left at the old customs building (there is a sign pointing to Lower Zambezi National Park). Proceed on the dirt road for 12km till you reach the new Kafue Bridge. Once you cross the bridge, keep right where the road forks, and keep going for 9 kms till you see the "KANYEMBA LODGE" sign on the right. If you come to a large banana plantation on your right, you have gone too far!

Kanyemba Lodge also provides a transfer service from anywhere in Lusaka, including Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (with meet and greet service) at an extra cost. This is a 2.5-3 hour drive by road down the Zambezi escarpment, and then a 15min cruise by boat.

Please enquire about current costs if you wish to use this service – note that we cannot guarantee transfers for last minute reservations, as we do ask for 48 hours’ notice in order to confirm availability of a vehicle.

Getting to Kanyemba by air

Proflight Zambia (http://www.flyzambia.com) operates multiple daily scheduled flights into Royal airstrip from April to November.

Note that we are situated 2 hours upstream from Royal airstrip – while we are happy to arrange a transfer from Royal to the lodge for you, there are extra charges payable for this service. Please enquire upon booking and we can advise if a road transfer or flight would be better suited to your needs.

There are several air charter services operating flights into the Lower Zambezi region, and we can utilise Masstock airstrip, located around 20 mins from the lodge. Charters are available for up to 5 guests (small planes only), and are quite affordable!

Please enquire upon booking if you would like a quotation on chartering a flight from Lusaka (20-25 mins) and we can advise current costs.
