Zambia is regarded as a malarial area and therefore proper prevention, by way of malaria prophylaxis is recommended. There are many different strains of Malaria requiring specific drugs. Please consult your doctor for the right prophylactic (anti Malarial) drugs.

We recommend that you undertake traveller’s medical and travel insurance beforehand. All guides and management at Kanyemba have undergone extensive first aid training, and all vehicles and boats are linked to base by an extensive radio network - however the best option is always to be covered should the need arise.

One of the best staffed and equipped hospitals in Zambia is just 25 minutes away from Kanyemba Lodge, in Chirundu.

PLEASE NOTE: South Africa has reviewed its yellow fever vaccination requirements policy, which now requires all travellers travelling/transiting through South Africa from Zambia to show proof of yellow fever vaccination on entry to South Africa (unless in possession of a valid waiver certificate).
