Paddle the Zambezi

We depart the lodge early morning, as you will be taken upstream from the lodge to commence your canoe trip down the Zambezi. As you disembark the boat, you will be given a full safety briefing by your guide, and then it’s time to hop into the canoes for an amazingly tranquil journey downstream.

Your canoe trip will take you through channels often not accessible by motorised craft, and with only the sounds of paddles dipping in and out of the water, approaches to birds and other wildlife are much easier. As the sun rises and the animals wake there is nothing more magical than drifting silently through one of nature’s marvels.

Canoe safaris are the perfect way to enjoy the tranquility of the river while experiencing the Zambezi's unique emotional power. Canoes provide a totally different approach to Zambian fauna and you will be able to silently get close to the animals drinking along the river or quietly soaking in the shallow waters.

With a stop to stretch your legs and have a drink halfway through the trip, you will arrive back at the lodge around 9.30am. No prior paddling experience is necessary, though guests should be able to swim. Comfortable clothing (neutral coloured), hat and sunscreen are recommended.

There is a minimum age of 12 years to participate in canoe trips.
